Bahia Honda State Park’s Sandspur Beach re-opened in May, so the time is ripe to explore this park along Henry Flagler’s iconic Overseas Highway.
Thanks to Flagler’s construction, the Bahia Honda Key was transformed from a remote island into a tropical destination that offers an eyeful: wading birds, crystal-blue waters and breathtaking sunsets.
Check out the biking, birding and boating, to start. Stay for the camping, picnicking and stargazing. The island has three sandy beaches, overnight campgrounds and two boat ramps. It’s a popular place, so would-be explorers are advised to get an early start. More information is available here.
