A hole in the Miami Beach’s skyline opened Sunday with the implosion of Miami Beach’s historic Deauville Beach Resort Sunday before a crowd.
Spectators cheered as 17 towers crumbled in just a few seconds. But what comes next for the resort property, where the Beatles once performed, is highly uncertain. Voters last week rejected a redevelopment plan for the deteriorating property that would have allowed a 375-foot condo tower in an area with a height limit of of 200 feet, the Miami Herald reports.
A planned sale of the oceanfront property had been contingent on voters’ approval of the plan.
