North Bay Village Republican Rep. Fabián Basabe got a lot of press recently, but not the good kind.
The former reality TV star came under scrutiny Thursday, when news broke that he’s under investigation for allegedly slapping an aide.
Basabe – who ran as a moderate willing to defend LGBTQ and abortion rights – also abstained from voting on legislation banning abortion after six weeks. He blamed Democrats for the new restrictions.
His votes for bills expanding the Parental Rights in Education law and hiking penalties for admitting kids into drag shows also drew fire from constituents, who called for his resignation.
