It took longer than anticipated, but after nearly three weeks without an answer, the University of Miami can respond to questions about who will lead the baseball team with a familiar name: pitching coach J.D. Arteaga, a former Hurricanes star whose number was retired.
Why did it take so long?
The announcement came a day after in-state rivals, Florida, lost in the finals at the Men’s College World Series.
It seems to be a symptom of what’s happening in Coral Gables. A circuitous process landed on an expected name.
