Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk ended his first year with the team coming in third for the Most Valuable Player Award, but he’s certainly changed the course for the Panthers who improbably made the NHL Finals.
Coming from the Calgary Flames, Tkachuk has skated into fans’ hearts. His 109-point contribution to the Panthers’ season was the fourth-most by a player in their first year with a team. Only Hockey Hall of Famers Teemu Selanne and Wayne Gretzky – who did it twice – scored more, the Miami Herald reports.
Tkachuk is recovering from a broken sternum from a hit during Finals’ Game 3.
