Miami-Dade County’s Supervisor of Elections since 2015 won’t be running for the job when it becomes an elected position in the next election.
Christina White changed her voter registration to Democrat in anticipation of the run, but recently changed her mind, the Miami Herald reported.
Voters in 2018 approved a constitutional amendment making it so that all counties must elect their constitutional officers.
In Miami-Dade, the county elections director had served via the County Mayor.
So far, only Democrat Willis Perry Howard, a campaign consultant and former staffer at North Miami Beach, has filed to run for the elected position.
