South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

by The 100 Companies

Winner: Peter Licata

A proposed contract would pay Licata $360,000 to take over as Broward County Superintendent. A final vote is expected this week, followed by Licata taking over July 3. At that pay level, Licata would make more than predecessors Vickie Cartwright ($350,000) and Robert Runcie ($356,000).

Loser: Lynn Stoner

A Broward County Office of Inspector General report expands on charges against Stoner, the former Plantation Mayor. The report alleges Stoner falsified records, allowing Strata Group, LLC to secure $102 million in loans. The falsified letter purportedly told Strata’s lenders it had resolved $181,000 in code enforcement fines with Plantation.
