Marlins’ pitching was so-so and the player with the highest batting average in the MLB didn’t help, but somehow Sunday, Miami made it work, overcoming a four-run deficit to win 8-6 against the Detroit Tigers.
It took until the bottom of the fifth inning before the crowd at loanDepot Park had something to cheer besides great fielding. Right-fielder Avisail Garcia was followed to home by three teammates all in the same inning.
That game wraps the series with the Tigers with the Marlins coming out 2-1. Next the team has 12 games in 12 days, starting with the Philadelphia Phillies.
