South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

Winner: Daniella Levine Cava

Miami-Dade County Mayor Levine Cava announced that she hauled in $1.1 million in March, her first month after formally announcing her 2024 re-election bid. Levine Cava holds more than $1.25 million, as she faces only one opponent so far. She is the county’s first woman Mayor.

Loser: Tom Hutchings

Hutchings lost a heartbreaker last week, falling just 24 votes shy of defeating former Councilman Victor Vázquez in the Miami Springs City Council Group 4 race. That also put him outside the recount threshold, giving the seat to Vázquez. He’ll serve a two-year term following the win.
