Oh, the agony of the South Florida sports fan

All that anticipation ends in heartbreak: It’s only the 10th time two teams from one market have played in the Stanley Cup and the NBA finals the same year, The New York Times reported.

At least South Florida sports fans can lay claim to confounding the experts. Both teams seemed to have the word “improbable” as permanent modifiers this season.

So, raise a glass to beating the odds: Miami was the first to the NBA Finals via a playoff play-in; only one other NHL team before the Panthers made it to the Stanley Cup competition as a wild card team.
