Three Republicans are now running for Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections (SOE).

Rep. Alina Garcia confirmed this week that she will not pursue a second House term by filing for the soon-to-be voter-chosen SOE post.

“A lot of people were asking me to run,” she told the Miami Herald.

Lawyer Megan Pearl, a member of the Miami Young Republicans, also announced her candidacy.

They’ll face 2020 election denier Ruth Swanson in the GOP Primary.

Former Republican Rep. J.C. Planas and political consultant Willis Howard are competing for the Democratic nomination.

Christina White, Miami-Dade’s appointed SOE since 2015, isn’t seeking election.
