Miami-Dade GOP Vice Chair faces removal

by Margaret Willard

Miami-Dade Republican Party Vice Chair Gianfranco Puppio-Pérez is facing removal from his position after repeatedly skipping meetings.

Several members including Puppio-Pérez, who won the vice chairmanship unopposed in December 2020, recorded three-consecutive absences with the Miami-Dade GOP Executive Committee through April 27.

Those no-shows should trigger their automatic expulsion from the committee in accordance with the party’s constitution, Miami-Dade GOP Sergeant at Arms Alan Chovel and party member Adam Barnett agreed.

Chovel said in an email that “nearly a dozen” Executive Committee members “met the ‘Removal for Non-Attendance’ threshold.”

As of Monday, the party website still lists Puppio-Pérez as vice chair.
