It’s now a two-way race for the most powerful elected office in Miami-Dade County.
Trapeze school owner Miguel “el Skipper” Quintero, a first-time candidate, filed paperwork to challenge incumbent Mayor Daniella Levine Cava next year.
He told Florida Politics he doesn’t really want the job. But a battle over permitting at his home-based business with the code enforcement department, which he plans to sue, prompted him to run.
He likes Levine Cava, he said, “But to me, she’s not doing enough.”
Quintero said he’ll install a live video feed in the Mayor’s office upon winning.
“Ideas like that gain traction.”
