Winner: Mike Redondo
Redondo has filed to succeed Rep. Juan Fernandez-Barquin, who is stepping down to take over as Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller. Already, Redondo has secured support from future House Speaker Daniel Perez and the House Republican Campaign Committee, giving him a leg up over GOP Primary opponent Christian Chavez.
Loser: Flooding projects
Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed state money for several projects in the tri-county area as part of his $511 million in cuts from the proposed state budget. That includes draining, resurfacing and other projects, and comes just months after historic flooding devastated the area.
