South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

Winner: Ken Russell. Russell caught another viral TikTok wave with two videos calling out sea polluters. Russell is pursuing the Democratic nomination in Florida’s 27th Congressional District. Armed with creative social media outreach, Russell could make a splash after abandoning a likely doomed U.S. Senate bid.

Loser: Brian Mast. Mast is facing pushback again from the South Florida farming community. The Florida Sugarcane Farmers took issue with remarks made as part of Mast’s partnership with VoteWater, an environmental activist group. “These baseless attempts to cast farmers as villains are an insult,” said Camber Pope of Pope Farms of Pahokee.
