South Florida’s Winner and Loser of the Week

Winner: Alleged election law violator.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ election integrity arm was heavy-handed in its first round of voter fraud charges, largely targeting individuals who seemed unaware they had violated any laws. A judge has now dismissed charges for one of those defendants, based in South Florida, and further legal challenges are expected.

Loser: Miami-Dade Democrats.

Where do we begin? U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez outraised his Democratic challenger by a 3-to-1 margin. South Florida GOP incumbents are rallying support ahead of Nov. 8. And this all comes as polling shows Republicans could win Miami-Dade for the first time in decades.
