Former state Senate candidate Janelle Perez to serve on national PAC board

by Margaret Willard

Miami business owner Janelle Perez has been tapped to serve on the board of a political committee that says it’s the only national organization dedicated to building the political power of LGBTQ women and nonbinary people.

LPAC was the first organization to endorse Perez in her unsuccessful Democratic bid against Republican Sen. Alexis Calatayud in Senate District 38. She was one of 275 candidates the Washington-based PAC endorsed.

“In these uncertain times I am honored and grateful to work with an organization so focused on standing up for our community,” Perez said, referencing the current anti-LGBTQ legislation sweeping the Florida Legislature.
