Fernandez-Barquin will be Miami-Dade County’s next Clerk of Courts and Comptroller after the Governor named him to the post. He’ll vacate his House seat to take on the role through 2024, finishing the term of former Clerk Harvey Ruvin, who died in office.
Loser: Alina Garcia, Rick Roth
The Representatives urged immigrant workers to stay in Florida despite a new law cracking down on illegal immigration. They argue the law is meant “more as a political bill, not policy,” both admitting legislation that angered Democrats was mere theater and rankling Republicans who want a stricter immigration policy.
