Ty Javellana, a Hollywood political consultant and accountant, has filed for the Democratic nomination for Chief Financial Officer, to challenge the current Republican in office, Jimmy Patronis.
So far, Patronis and Richard Dembinsky of Port Orange, with no party affiliation, are the only other announced CFO candidates.
The campaign is Javellana’s first for elected office, but he’s been in headlines before, after his conviction for elderly exploitation in 2013 and then having his conviction overturned after serving 837 days.
“It’s really a big ‘aha” reason for why I got involved in activism and advocacy,” Javellana said of his overturned conviction.
